The season you propose in changes more than the temperature. It changes the crowds, the light, and even which locations are realistic.

Spring

Blossoms along the Seine and in the Tuileries make for some of the most photogenic backdrops of the year, but it is also peak tourist season by April. Early morning is your best window for a quieter version of the classic spring shot.

Summer

Long daylight hours mean more flexibility for an evening proposal without rushing golden hour, but July and August bring the heaviest crowds of the year at every major landmark. Rooftop and boat locations tend to handle summer crowds better than ground-level monuments.

Autumn

Winter

Time of day matters as much as season

Regardless of season, the hour before sunset consistently produces the most flattering light and, at most locations, a noticeably thinner crowd than midday. If you can only control one variable, control this one.

There is no universally "best" season. The right one depends on whether you are optimizing for fewer crowds, better weather, or a specific visual (blossoms, golden autumn light, holiday decorations).
